Mission Moment - a bed for rest

While treating a male patient in his 60s for severe asthma, the Nurse Practitioner noted that his illness was acute and instructed him to stay in bed while he recovered. He told her that his sleeping arrangement was making him feel worse. He said he was sleeping on an air mattress that had a leak and was essentially sleeping on the floor every night.
This was a "Mission Moment.” THIS is why we do what we do.
The Nurse Practitioner who was treating the patient was Amanda Hitt. She contacted some faith-base resources and got a bed and some other furnishings the patient was lacking donated. Amanda and a friend of the clinic, Beth Kimbrell, moved the furniture to the patient’s apartment in public housing. He was very thankful, and his health improved greatly.
Amanda said that sometimes it takes more than a prescription to help a patient get better. We are very grateful for having a staff that puts patient care and wellbeing beyond the exam room.
